Shrek the Dog needs a home
Hello, my name is Shrek. I'm a sweet 6 year old Potcake mix from the Humane Society of Grand Bahamas. My first couple of years on the island were pretty bad. I had an owner who neglected and abused me. One day, a tourist from Austria saw me, my brother and sister and called the shelter to see if they would take us in. They said yes, so we lived safely at the shelter for years. Unfortunately, I had suffered some type of traumatic injury where my pelvis was crushed and my femur on my hind leg was broken in two places. I received no treatment for years and so had little use of my hind end. I have now had FHO surgeries on each hip and a brace was made for my left hind leg. I'm in physical therapy two times per week learning to walk with my brace and trying to build strength in my hind legs so that I will use them more. I'll probably never be a hiker or go for lengthy walks, but OutPaws is hoping to help me reach the point where I can stand more and enjoy being in my yard and exploring.
